Rebuilding Capacity for Quality
We help child care programs instill healthy habits through nutritious food, active play and family engagement.
Rebuilding Capacity for Quality (RCQ) is available to 3, 4 or 5 star child care programs interested in making classroom and program improvements through coaching for teachers and center administrators.
Participating programs will be able to select needed support from a menu of tiered areas related to licensing, administration, instructional supports, and high quality accreditation standards outlined below.
Available in Durham, Orange and Wake counties
Tier 1: Licensing and Reassessment
- Professional development and education planning
- Coaching and technical assistance to classrooms to implement best practices related to making program and quality enhancements for all B-5 classrooms.
- Community of Practice for teachers focused on developing an understanding of how best practices impact children’s learning.
- Coaching for director related to supporting teachers as they implement best practices and prepare for reassessment.
- Professional development and education planning
Tier 2: Director Leadership
- Coaching on Personnel (Staffing, Orientation, Evaluation)
- Coaching on finance and budgeting
- Coaching on engaging families
- Coaching on quality improvement planning
- Director Leadership Community of Practice.
- Program Administrator Scale
Tier 3: Higher Quality
- Provide coaching on effective teacher child interaction using CLASS®
- Provide coaching on instructional supports
- Provide coaching on NAEYC Accreditation standards
Rebuilding Capacity for Quality (Wake County)
The Rebuilding Capacity for Quality (Wake RCQ) project serves child care centers and family child care homes in Wake County with strengthening the quality of classrooms and programs through coaching and professional development. Project supports are provided to teachers, site administrators, and family child care educators. Participating programs will be able to select needed support from a menu of tiered areas related to licensing, Environment Rating Scale, administration, instructional supports, business practices, and high quality accreditation standards.
Teachers will have an opportunity to participate in a Community of Practice to focus on developing an understanding of how best practices impact children’s learning. Teachers will also have an opportunity to develop a professional development and education plan.
Center directors will receive resources and coaching related to supporting teachers as they implement best practices and prepare for an ERS assessment. Coaching topics are based on your identified needs and may include the following topics: staffing, orientation, evaluation, finance and budgeting, and continuous quality improvement planning. Directors will have an opportunity to participate in a Directors Community of Practice creating opportunities for networking and collaboration at an administrative level county wide.
Child care centers will be offered support related family engagement and involvement, creating a plan to strengthen the engagement of families as active partners in their child’s education. Resources and coaching will be provided to help create and implement the family engagement plan.
Family child care homes will receive coaching and resources related to the ERS, business practices, NAFCC accreditation, and strengthening instructional supports to best impact children’s learning. Family child care educators will also have an opportunity to participate in a Community of Practice to support networking and collaboration with other family child care educators.
All participating programs will have access to free professional development focused on understanding unconscious bias, cultural intelligence, inclusive language, and candid conversations that remove barriers to trust.
